We have a small farm in Conroe, TX. About 40 miles north of Houston, where we raise a variety of animals including Registered Dairy Goats, Horses, Chickens and Livestock Guardian dogs.
We also run a small donkey rescue where we take in unwanted donkey and rehabilitate them and find them new homes, many of these donkeys come in to us wild and untouchable, we work with them desensitizing them to human touch and gaining their trust, also taking care of any health problems they have, worming them and trimming their hooves (many have never had their feet even touched much less trimmed) we often get in donkeys that are ether too thin or overweight, we put each donkey on its own diet depending on its needs, we then halter break them if needed and work on any fear issues before placing them up for adoption, many times we have people wanting our donkeys before we ever get them in so they are never here very long. Donkeys are amazingly gentle and sensitive creatures and if you treat them with kindness and gentleness they will respond much more than if you try to force them to do anything. We test every donkey we get with smaller livestock and try to place them in the best home for them, some of our donkeys go to ranches to guard cattle, some as pets and some to guard smaller livestock such as goats or sheep. Donkey are awesome animals and make great pets and guards depending on their size, if they are treated well they can be an asset to any farm. We enjoy touching as many of these gentle creatures lives as possible and helping people understand and better appreciate these lovely long eared creatures.
We try to live by the verse on our homepage and feel that what care, time and quality feed we put into our livestock they give back to us in healthy produce, including Eggs, Milk, Meat, Companionship and Entertainment. It is hard work keeping everyone healthy and safe, but in the end it is worth it. Everyone has a job here and they all contribute something in exchange for their keep, they are also our pets and we love each and every one of them.
